Refuge of Hope Disciple Center

Drs. Charles & Judy Farmer, are dedicated to alleviating the plight of the disadvantaged, founded Refuge of Hope Disciple Center Church in 1990. As native Washingtonians, their vision is to positively impact the lives of people in the District of Columbia. Refuge of Hope, a non-profit faith-based organization, also operates as a community outreach center that distributes emergency food, clothing and educational supplies to those in need in the DC/MD Area and Abroad.

Refuge of Hope received it's current property in 1997, which includes buildings #10, #12, #14, #16 P Street NE, Washington DC 20002. Prior to being occupied by Refuge of Hope, the property was used by the P Street Crew, which infused the community with drugs and violence. The U.S. Attorney’s Office worked with local residents and city agencies to solve this problem. Gang members were prosecuted, and the property was officially deemed a public nuisance, shut down and then forfeited to the government. Shortly thereafter, the property was conveyed to the Refuge of Hope Disciple Center, as a result of their ongoing community outreach in the DC/MD communities and Mission work. We thank The Lord for allowing us to continue our Outreach Ministries in the DC/MD Area and Abroad.

Refuge of Hope Disciple Center Church Vision

Refuge of Hope Disciple Center is a church and tax-exempt, faith-based organization providing violence prevention thru the arts, education, recreation, spiritual, and counseling programs to youth and adults in the DC/MD area and abroad since 1990.
